Members of the Camposol Business Association (CBA) are erecting solar powered lighting to help illuminate the B Sector Commercial Centre, the lights having been supplied by the CBA to its members funded from association funds.

Although the pedestrian areas and pavements should be illuminated by the Commercial Centre landlords this has not happened for some considerable time despite repeated requests, so the CBA members took the decision at a meeting in September to provide lighting outside their premises. After comparing a number of possible contenders a model was selected and trialled for several weeks to assess its suitability. The trial proved a success, even providing light throughout the night after a cloudy day’s charging, and as a result 16 CBA members agreed to mount lights on their premises.

The light model selected is an LED floodlight 100W giving 170 lumens of light and a water resistance of IP65, each light with its own solar panel and a remote control so business owners can control when and how the light will function. If premises hold an event where lighting is part of the entertainment the floodlight can be switched off or dimmed so as not to overwhelm the performance,  and the floodlight can also be set on dim escalating to floodlight when movement is detected by the sensor.

The provision of lighting is part of the ongoing commitment by the CBA to improve the B Sector Commercial Centre for the enjoyment and safety of its customers and visitors.
