Venerated rod maker Scott recently announced its latest rod series, named the Scott Wave. The new series, according to the Colorado-based rod maker, is "equally at home slam fishing the flats, casting fast sinking lines for stripers, or chasing carp and bass at the local park." With a mid-range price point, the Wave offers anglers a high-performance alternative well-loved Scott flagship rod series like the Centric and Sector.

Despite the more wallet-friendly price tag, the new Wave series brings to the table many of the same technologies found in those flagship rods — like Scott's ReAct, X-Core, and ARC technologies and its multi-modulus graphite and FiberFuse resin.

Scott has a reputation for not bringing new rod series to the market unless notable advancements have driven their development, so anglers have reason to be confident that the Wave brings something new and innovative to the fly fishing world. “Working on the Wave over the past year and a half has been a fun and interesting project,” said Jim Bartschi, president of Scott. “We’ve developed so many innovations in recent years, and we challenged ourselves to incorporate many of those new materials and design approaches into this series. We couldn’t be happier with the results.”

With a lineup that consists of weights 6 through 12, the new Wave series is aimed at everything from anglers pursuing hefty trout to those chasing big fish species like giant trevally and false albacore.

The new rods, according to Scott "bring together high line speed, exceptional loop control, and point-it-and-it goes-there accuracy. They feel light and lively in hand and respond intuitively to input from the angler. Wave rods easily handle a wide range of line densities and fly sizes, making them ideal tools for pursuing powerful fish in all fresh and saltwater environments. And when pursuits turn into hookups, Wave rods have lifting power to spare, helping keep fish out of structure or the depths."

Available in 9-foot, 4-piece configurations, in addition to technologies hailing from Scott's Sector and Centric, all rods in the Wave series feature top-grade components like SiC stripping guides, custom machined aluminum and graphite reel seats, and super grade cork. MSRP is $675. Available immediately from authorized Scott fly rod dealers.
